Care Information

This icon of the Mojave Desert is highly sought after for desert landscapes. They can be grown from seed but because of their slow growth rate, people prefer to purchase larger ones harvested from the wild. Do not harvest without a permit or purchase a Joshua tree that does not have a tag identifying its origin. Establishing a transplanted Joshua tree can be difficult with a high rate of failure within the first few years. Harvested plants typically have their north side marked and should be planted in the same direction. Provide deep, well-draining soil.
