Tortoise Protector
The low fence along the northern edge of the garden and this cattle guard help protect desert tortoises from wandering onto the road. If a tortoise were to fall through the cattle guard, there is an exit tunnel back into the reserve. For pedestrian access to Pioneer Park, please step over the low fence rather than walking across the cattle guard.
